For those of you wondering (and those who aren't, you're gonna hear anyway), I heard that song that i mentioned yesterday on the VH1 show called rock school. It is a knock off of the masterpiece School of Rock in which Gene Simmons makes a rock band out of students from an English Boarding school.

Not much is going on here, I just figured i'd let my readers know where i heard that song.

In the show, Gene Simmons gets all of the students to sing that song in chapel.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Wow!!! It's been quite a while since I updated this thing, so I'll just pick up where I left off somewhere in the wee days of July.  I went to New York (where I ate some pork) Then I went to DC (I saw the boys of the beach) There, we stayed at the 4-H center in Chevy Chase.  Props to any SLC/DSA peeps who get the joke.  And I apologize to anyone who is not on the   leadership team who has heard that song and just rolled their eyes (although I did look like a rock star, didn't I kaci!).  Anyway, that trip was great, but it is far in the past these days.  Oh yeah, while I'm on the subject of GPA, Camp was cool, I played Robin in the skits.

Ok, before GPA camp there was Dry Creek.  What an amazing week!! I was a counselor for the church.  We really connected with God and eachother.  I got to break up a near-riot, and really connect with a troubled kid.  It was great!  I also got to feel important because I could go to the adult meetings. I was able to see old friends, make new ones (especially the pretty and nice girls), and spend some time with my really close friends from back home (I say back home because I'm officially a college student now, more on that soon).  Did I mention the pretty and nice girl(s)?  But more importantly God revealed Himself to us and nothing could ever top that.

Ok...after the camps and the wisdom teeth recoup I was able to wakeboard again. Yay!

I was also able to play trumpet. I began practice for LSU Tiger Band and Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Winds auditions. For further info on the futility of that last statement, read on.

So August 12 rolled around and the event to cap off my high school days finally arrived.  The Crowder Concert.  I need some sort of special italics made specifically for use when that concert is mentioned.  It was that cool.  Kaci claims to be a bigger Crowder fan, but sorry dear, you're not.  Not only is the DCB (I just noticed that two of my favorite things are composed of the came letters-DCB and the DCBC) wonderful musically, that is the tip of the iceberg.  Their commitment to being a catalyst in connecting people with God is their focus (that's the kind of iceberg that sinks Titanics).  And their darn cool people to boot!  Thanks FBC DQ guys for getting my shirt signed, it hangs above me on the bulletin board in my dorm room as I type this blog.

6:30 the next morning rolls around, and my new life begins.  I moved into my dorm room that morning, and the meadow of freedom opened up with all its butterflies, tall flowers, and little furry critters!  And oh how I frolic in this field of freedom, full of glee.  (Sorry, that was wierd).  Then tiger band came.  8:30 am- 9 pm everyday.  That is all I have to say.  Some really cool and fun things happened at pre season week, but to get to some other neat things that I think the reader will find interesting, I will abridge that section.

I began life as a music major, and it started off with an audition. That was funny. I've never had a worse audition. That's ok, we got the music monday then had the audish wed.  Fun stuff

College has been great.  It's a lot different than anything else.  It's different here, but I like it (love it).  There are some great people, and some great things to do.  I'm staying out of trouble too.  The first week of classes was hectic, fun, and everything in between.  I'll try to update on some of the more funny details more often, but for now I have one of those random yet profound thoughts.

I recently heard a song that goes a little something like this

"God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you, God gave rock and roll to everyone"

At first I shrugged the lyrics off as a silly rock anthem, but the words stuck with me.  I got to thinking that there is some truth to the statement.

Reason 1- Every good thing comes from God. I classify rock and roll as a good thing, especially when used to glorify God, and even more especially when it is used to connect with Him in music worship (hence my attraction to DCB and Delerious? and such).

Reason 2- When I think of a rock (and its origins) I think of defying standards, and shaking things up.  Rock purists would agree with Jack Black as Dewey Finn in the movie School of Rock when he says that rock is about "sticking it to the man." Well, no one did that better than The One.  Jesus is the ultimate picture of sticking it to the man.  See, He defied social standards and really stuck it to the man.  Rock also makes me think of alternative lifestyles, and what's more alternative to our human nature than living a life of peace, love, and constant connection with our Creator!  If that's not rock, I don't know what is.

Reason 3- Rock in its purest (behind industry and business and all that stuff) is about self expression and individuality.  God gave us a personality, gifts, and made us for a reason.  We should embrace what God gave us- what I like to call our "Rock and Roll spirit"-  To respond to His greatness, love, and rescuing grace in the way that we were made to.

Well, i'm tired.  I would like to do more research on this topic and wrire more later.  I hope that was enjoyable.  Everyone have a great day.  Gimme a call if you know me, i'd like to hear from you!

Hey you guys, I'm leaving for DC in about 6 hours, so I was just letting whoever happens to read this that tidbit of information.  So, may everyone have a wonderful week, and I apologize for the last post....it was quite dorky.

See you later!

Here goes...another post today!

Music is really neat.  I always tie events with music for some reason. I always remember the place/event I was when I listened to a new cd for the first time, or if something cool was going on when that song was playing.  Take Miles Davis for instance...So many people have listened to his Kind of Blue album (which blows me away every time I hear Flamenco Sketches), but all bring different things to it. That album was playing during an event of neatness and importance, that is both a happy and sad memory, and now just about every time I hear it I have that memory.  What's really neat is that the album totally reflects that event and the related events that followed.  I apologize for being so vague, if you know what i'm talking about, then cool, if not, ask and I might tell ya if you're lucky.

Anyway, there is also another cool thing about music, and that is the type of music that is used to glorify/worship/praise/cry out to the Creator.  That's really great.  Most people know that I take worship music pretty seriously.  Its a passion of mine, and not much has affected me as much as my times in worship (corporate and private)

Well, I hope some of this ranting made sense.  I'm about to go watch that kooky guy tom cruise in War of the Worlds...I hope its not disappointing, cuz i really enjoyed the book

Peas out

Man you guys...I think I'm crazy.  I just realize that I talk to myself!  I was getting out of the shower earlier today after mowing and I looked in the mirror and realize that I was talking to myself and you know what...I didn't care.  Haha.  I've been hanging out by myself cuz the family is gone on a trip.  So I tell myself things.

Now, i'm sitting at my table with my laptob looking out at the river, at man its a gorgeous day.

Now for something completely different (and random).  I love that commercial where that guy is drinking dr pepper and  he's hanging with his girl and that song "I would do anything for love" is playing.  The girl tries to take the Dr.Pepper, then he leaves and runs down the street.  That's a great commercial.  And the song gets stuck in my head for around three days.

I feel old.  I know I'm in my prime, but a bunch of my friends are getting married.  I'm like...."I'm freakin' 18 years old, and some of my friends are getting married!"  Granted, they are mostly 2 to 4 years older than me, but I can't even imagine getting married in 5, haha.  I probably won't 'cause it'll probably take that long to find a girl who can put up with me.  Just playin', I have better self esteem than that.  Anyway, congrats Ryan and Tiffany!  And all you other people who are getting married.

Holy crap...what is the world coming to..I'm have the TV on in the background waiting for relient k to come on, and on comes Brittney Spears.  Pregnant in a video.  Holy cow. The fact that she is allowed to bring life into the world shows some major flaws in our national security.  Just playing...or am I?

Anyway, I gotta run, I have a rehearsal very soon in DQ and a parade and such.

Good day to you all, and may your paths be full of twists, turns, odd foliage, and other neat stuff!
